Researchers at the University of Tokyo have invented this super awesome thing they named the “Magic Mirror”. It shows you your muscular activity in real time so you can actually see how hard your muscles are working while you're working out. The system can currently monitor the activity of 30% of the body’s 300+ skeletal muscles.
Muscle images can also be overlaid on the video image of the user’s body.
At the moment it’s a medical device, so it won't be showing up in gyms anytime soon. The design is also a little bulky so the researchers are already working on a more compact version that incorporates the cameras directly into the display! Coolness. They're envisioning the system being used not only in gyms and hospitals but also at homes. It's gonna help a lot of people get in shape!
